The United Nations General Assembly designated January 27—the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau—as International Holocaust Remembrance Day. On this annual day of commemoration, the UN urges every member state to honor the victims of the Nazi era and to develop educational programs to help prevent future genocides. The program also includes the presentation of the 2025 Chesed Award and 2025 Simon Konover Award for Excellence in Holocaust Education.
Join us for the 15th Annual International Holocaust Remembrance Day on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at 12:30 pm at The Emanuel Synagogue in West Hartford.
Sam Kassow will discuss his translation of Warsaw Testament by Rokhl Auerbach, which will be available for sale at the brunch.
Holocaust survivors Jenny Kalsner and Bumi Gelb will receive the 2025 Chesed Award. Two EASTCONN teachers, Stephanie White and Esther Soffer, will recieve the 2025 Simon Konover Award for Excellence in Holocaust Education.
Kosher brunch will be served.
