The United Nations General Assembly designated January 27—the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau—as International Holocaust Remembrance Day. On this annual day of commemoration, the UN urges every member state to honor the victims of the Nazi era and to develop educational programs to help prevent future genocides. The program also includes the presentation of the 2024 Chesed Award and 2024 Simon Konover Award for Excellence in Holocaust Education.
Join us for the 14th Annual International Holocaust Remembrance Day on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at 12:30 pm at The Emanuel Synagogue in West Hartford.
We will be presenting the 2024 Chesed Award to Esther Kanner and Miriam Schreiber and the 2024 Simon Konover Recognition for Excellence in Holocaust Education to Stephen Armstrong, Sam Kassow, Sophie Morganstern.
Dr. David Simon, the Director of Yale University's Genocide Studies Program will be the keynote speaker.
Kosher brunch will be served.
