In 2005, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 27 January as the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust. Since then, we have dedicated this day to remembering the atrocities committed towards the Jewish people during the Holocaust, and to address antisemitism and racism in our modern world so as to prevent future genocides.
The program will include:
- A kosher brunch
- The presentation of the 2023 Chesed Award to Nina Jacobs, which is bestowed on individuals who demonstrate exemplary "acts of loving kindness”.
- The presentation of the Simon Konover Recognition for Excellence in Holocaust Teaching which will be presented to Rachel Torres from Newtown High School and Joe Goldman from E.O. Smith High School.
- Keynote address from Joel Lohr, President and Professor at the Hartford International University for Religion and Peace.
Registration is required and the cost is $20.00 (free for survivors).
This program is co-sponsored by Voices of Hope and JFACT.
